Steve McQueen Dives Into Television


    Director of Oscar-buzzworthy12 Years a Slave, Steve McQueen, is building a strong resume as he dives into his first television project. This new project is an untitled drama featuring a black protagonist, with casting choices already being explored. The untitled drama is in development with HBO and currently being fast-tracked. According to Deadline, the drama follows

    "a young African-American man’s experience entering New York high society, with a past that may not be what it seems."

    The series will be co-written and directed by McQueen, and promises to stay true to McQueen's filmmaking style. Other names attached to this project include Russell Simmons, Matthew Michael Carnahan, Iain Canning, and Emile Sherman. The Oscar-buzz surrounding the 12 Years a Slave and McQueen's name garnering more attention daily, coupled with the TV drama's "provocative" storyline and diverse soon-to-be-roster, it is easy to see why HBO is so eager to get this project started!
